[LIVE]Version 0.5.1 live

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

0.5.1 brings a simple load balancing system to spread the loading of the images over 2 servers and working markers that got broken in 0.5.0.

The spreading of tiles over 2 servers especialy should speed up fullscreen viewing of the map. The tiny maps used to WyriHaximus.net shouldn’t notice this speed update since they only have a few tiles to load. The way how var’s are stored and used also has changed in this new version to make sure browser problems are avoided more easely. 1 of those things was the marker problem. While the popup still doesn’t work it’s a step in the right direction.

[LIVE] and [DEV] tags + comments live

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

From now on the [LIVE] and [DEV] tags will be used to make clear what I’m posting about. It will be possible to comment blog posts.

The WyriMaps Developement site houses the developement of wyrimaps.net. New features will be created and tested there. Including the upcoming background marker fetcher. To help you keep track of both live and developement posts, the [LIVE] and [DEV] tags are introduced. [LIVE] will be used more for new releases while [DEV] will be used for thoughts, feature under developement and other developemtn issue’s.

In a total other fashion it’s possible from now on to comment a blog post.

[LIVE]Version 0.5.0 live

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

Last night I placed version 0.5.0 live. This version features the smaller marker images that where supposed to you live in version 4. It also includes several code and speed upgrades.

With version 0.5.0 the tiles are served from 2 different servers to easy the wyrimaps.net server and ensure faster loading of tiles. The code went from a procedural coding style to a class based style. This to make it more portable. The way markers are handled has also changed. 0.5.0 introduces way system to reuse makers so that the browser has less of them to handle on big large maps. Also adding them works with a timer to prevent the browser from locking up. Still playing with the settings of this but the settings that come with 0.5.0 won’t lockup your browser :) . Enjoy this release and comments should be ready by tomorrow.

Marker hotfix applied

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

For some reason the new marker icon cause problems and is disabled for now.

Not sure why it happend (still looking into it but with this hotfix it doesn’t have priority) but after placing the normal marker back the problem was gone.

Going to see if there is a simple way of putting the new icon back on without this problem. Also the big coord bar on the upper right is not something I’m completely happy with. On screenshot pages like this one it looks to big. So I’m considering a version where only a link and a possible mail button are visible.

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

A few minutes ago version 4 of the WyriMaps script went live on here and will be live around 4 or 5 in the morning for WyriHaximus.net.

Version 4 bring a logo on the map, a smaller coords div, little yellow dots () instead of the default markers to clear things up a bit.

The website has also been updated with a logo, blog rss feed and some background changes.

WyriMaps.net is here

Posted under Site News & Uncategorized

WyriMaps.net is the new site for my google maps projects including the large World of Warcraft Map project I’m working on.

WyriMaps.net was mainly created to simpler URL for the wow map rather then maps.wow.wyrihaximus.net. The ideal is to create a transparent framework I can easely hook other maps in besides the wow map.

While the site is under constant development I wanted to have a mini blog ready asap so I could post updates there. Comments, rating, tags etc will come a.s.a.p..
